Rugby World Cup - The Journey Begins

The Rugby World Cup is an intercollegiate men's rugby tournament normally contested between the world's top professional teams every four years. The tournament is generally administered by World Rugby, the governing body of the sport. The teams that compete get to choose their countries in the four nations qualifying for the final tournament.

There are four countries in the competition, with the winner going to become World Rugby member and a title holder. The other nations are England, Scotland, Australia and New Zealand. The four nations have also created official teams which compete regularly. The four nations have qualification based on performance in Tests, two-a-days and their respective club tournaments.

The first rugby world cup was held in Tentamaro, Italy in 1987 and was won by the hosts France. Since then the World Cup has expanded to include nations from all around the globe. This year's competition is being held in New Zealand and will be the most watched game in the summer. There are four other games scheduled for the summer including ones in Japan, South Africa, Australia, and England.

The current world champions England are in the running for the fourteenth World Cup title. They have been playing since 1995 and are managed by former rugby player turned coach Sir Clive Ward. Other favorites to win the four-year title are Australia, the defending champions, who have also tasted success at the last four occasions. Their run to the title has been fueled by the additions of stars like Brian Smith and Kurtley Beale. The defending champions and number three New Zealand teams are also a serious contender. The quarter rugby World Cup finals are due to be held in Cardiff in August.

Each country is permitted to choose one representative for the FIFA World Cup play. If a team makes it to the semis and the quarter finals they will automatically qualify for the tournament. After the qualification process is complete then the teams will be decided on who will represent their nation at the rugby world cup. The top two teams from each qualifying group will be chosen to join the tournament.

For those that want to see all of this excitement, there are many different options for travelling to countries like Canada, Argentina, and Australia. Some airlines offer special routes that include the four nations involved in the rugby world cup. There are many cheap flights available to cities across the globe and finding the right price and route should be easy to do.
